Helping Twin Cedars Students Succeed Through Scholarships

Twin Cedars Dollars for Scholars chapter is an affiliate of Scholarship America, a national umbrella program that includes nearly 1,000 locally-based, volunteer-driven chapters in nearly 3,500 communities across the United States.

Dollars for Scholars partners with nearly 500 colleges, universities and technical schools to help maximize the impact of financial aid from our organization.  Many have matching fund agreements, allowing our locally raised dollars to be doubled for students attending these schools.

Dollars for Scholars chapters like ours help hometown students achieve their educational goals by raising scholarship funds, establishing an endowment fund, and distributing scholarships each year.

Our chapter was founded in 1989 by Superintendent Don Gilkerson and a handful of volunteers.  Over the years, we have been able to provide approximately $192,000 in awards to 485 graduating Twin Cedars High School students.  With some recent designated donations, we are also able to provide awards to 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year college students on a competitive basis.

We are an entirely volunteer organization.  Volunteers not only facilitate the fundraisers, but also manage the scholarship application process, prepare all reports and manage the finances, keeping our costs very low.  This means that dollars donated and raised each year are used for scholarships.

This website provides resources from our chapter to our volunteers, community, and students.
